This mural depicts the smiles of Singaporean artist, Yip Yew Chong & Cambodia-Canadian muralist FONKi. Painted without the eyes to show an anonymous universal smile, it also symbolizes friendship between Singapore and Cambodia. The smile is one of FONKi’s trademark when he used to paint smiles all across Cambodia – The Land of Smiles, back in 2014.
The abstract part of the mural reflects the energy and exchanges between both countries, while the verticality could refer to the progress and development of the two countries, which are founded on the aspiration and hopes of their peoples.
This mural is purchased by OV Investment and gifted to the National Bank of Cambodia, which will be installed at the Kampong Cham branch’s auditorium soon.
